This black tie wedding at the State Room in Boston featured stunning views of the city, a caricature artist, pretty blush and gold details, and one of the most loving couples you may have the pleasure to meet. Kristen and Nate enjoy visiting Boston few times a month, especially to Bruins games! So they planned their big day to have the big city feel, including photos in front of Quincy market and the old Statehouse – historic Boston landmarks.
Their ceremony took place high above the city. But while the views were breathtaking, the newlyweds truly took your breath away with their contagious laughs and emotional self-written vows. “We’re both weird, and enjoy the weirdness of each other,” say Kristen and Nate, when describing themselves as a couple. They did a traditional celtic hand-fasting ceremony, officially tying the knot and become Mr. + Mrs.
Details like a borrowed cake topper, a DIY love marquis sign, and photos of loved ones made their wedding day more personal. Kristen had her second grade students write marriage advice for her and displayed them in small frames throughout the State Room. One of my favorites was: “Be nice to your husband. Do nice things for him and he can get you flowers from him sometimes.” Yes, please!
Nate was most excited for “one fantastic night,” and it sure did deliver. DJ Peter of 617 Weddings got the dance floor hopping from the moment he began. As the sun went down over the Boston skyline, the couple danced with their family and friends throughout the evening. There was a special dance to the Hokey Pokey in remembrance of an uncle, who was always the life of the party.
Cheers to the newlyweds, Mr. + Mrs. McLaughlin! Wishing you a lifetime of love, weirdness, nice deeds, and flowers.
