Frequently Asked Questions: Album Design

The wedding album is our favorite way to print your photos. It will be an heirloom that you’ll show friends, family, and future generations for years after your wedding day. We always design albums so that you can get an idea of how we feel the story should be told. We focus on drawing attention to the best images from the day, and pairing images that work well together. To begin creating yours, make a list of your favorite images and we will curate your custom album.  Here are answers to some frequently asked questions to help you get started.
  • How do we create our album favorites list?
You can select your favorites through your online gallery, using the heart on each of the photos you would like included in your album. You can name the favorites list “Album Photos” (or something along those lines) and I will be notified when it is made. I will then use your chosen images to design an album layout for your approval.
  • How many images can we select for the album?
I usually advise couples not to limit their favorites at first – that way you aren’t too concerned with numbers and forget to include photos you love! We want this album to be an heirloom you treasure and look back on for years to come. However, for reference, a 10 spread album would fit about 50-70 images. Though you can add extra spreads if you just can’t decide what to cut out!! Which leads to the next frequently asked question…
  • Can we add more spreads to our album?
Absolutely! Additional spreads are $50/ea. The maximum amount we can print is 25 spreads. You can purchase additional spreads through the store attached to your gallery.
  • Can we request changes to the design?
I am happy to make any changes you would like to the design. Just mention the spread numbers and/or file numbers you would like revised in an email to me.
  • It looks like the binding/seam might run right through our faces in the photo. Will that be OK when it prints?
The pages don’t bend like a magazine but rather have a hinged binding so that each spread lays flat. That means you will only see a faint shadow line where the pages meet; however, if the seam is in an obvious place you dislike when you review your album design, let me know and I may be able shift the photo/design slightly to make it much less noticeable.
  • What are our cover options? Will there be a photo or writing included on the cover or just the classic leather?
We offer 4 leather cover options for you to choose from, and are happy to offer our suggestions if you’d like! There will not be a photo on the cover of you album. It is an additional $35 to emboss names/date on the cover.
  • How much would it cost to order 2 additional unique albums (1 for each set of parents)?
You can absolutely order parent albums. We offer 8×8 albums (a size smaller than your wedding album) for $450 for 10 spreads. We can print it with the same design as your book, or we can customize the parent albums for each parent!
  • Do we need to select a photo in order to add the spread/parent album to our cart?
Yes, you should add a spread (any one) into your cart to purchase spreads and parent albums. We will have been communicating via email so it will be clear to me what you are purchasing even if it doesn’t show the “right” image in your cart. I personally place the orders from the gallery store so I will ensure that everything is perfect!
  • How long until we receive our album?
Once we place the order, it typically takes about 2 weeks for it to arrive on your doorstep. If you are efficient with choosing your album favorites and approving the design, you could have your album in hand as soon as 2 months after your wedding day!
